Eleat acquires Clasado’s Bimuno prebiotic galactooligosaccharide supplement portfolio
High-protein breakfast brand Eleat has acquired Clasado’s consumer supplement range based on its proprietary galactooligosaccharide (GOS) Bimuno. Following the divestment, Clasado will be focusing on its core B2B sales of the prebiotic ingredient.
Eleat now owns Bimuno’s finished supplement product line and customer base, as well as the license rights to continue commercializing a consumer product containing Bimuno GOS as its sole active ingredient in the UK.
Clasado retains full ownership of the supplement range’s core ingredient, Bimuno GOS, which will continue to be available to global formulators and health brands. Last month, the ingredient received 11 self-substantiated health claims in Colombia.
“The divestment of our finished consumer product range represents an exciting new chapter for Clasado. Stepping away from the direct-to-consumer market enables us to focus on our core strengths and dedicate all our efforts to providing our multi-award-winning prebiotic functional ingredient to brands around the world,” comments Clasado Biosciences CEO, Per Rehné.
“With gut health becoming increasingly important on the global stage, our team is fully committed to building on the success and demand for science-backed biotics via our branded ingredient, Bimuno GOS.”

Robust gut health consumer base
The move comes as consumer interest in gut health is soaring. Innovations in the space have proliferated, including the supercomputer mapping of gut microbiomes, an AI microbiome test for aging insights, and an ingestible sampling capsule for intestinal analysis.

The company highlights: “What’s more, over 50% of consumers expect it to be a higher priority for them in the next two to three years.”
“This growing demand positions Clasado to accelerate the global expansion of its ingredient business, supporting formulators and manufacturers with scientifically validated prebiotic solutions.”
Clasado says its Bimuno supplement range achieved an average 4.5-star rating from over 3,900 reviews on Trustpilot, with 94% of customers reporting improved digestion and overall gut health, as highlighted in a customer satisfaction survey (2024).
“As a breakthrough brand in the healthy breakfast space, we’re focused on helping people eat well and move well and this acquisition supports our goal to grow in the health and nutrition category,” comments Hywel Rose, Eleat co-founder.
“The Bimuno supplement range is an ideal fit for us being established and scientifically backed. The acquisition represents our commitment to supporting health and well-being in a convenient way, as well as diversifying our product portfolio to accelerate growth. We see tremendous potential for health to take center stage when it comes to performance in the UK market, and we’re excited about the opportunity to take Bimuno forward, reaching more and more people.”
The Bimuno supplement range will transition into the Eleat brand architecture over time.
In recent months, Clasado has branched out into pet microbiome solutions next to its human nutrition business. In October, it introduced the Bimuno Pet brand, which also utilizes the company’s Bimuno GOS ingredient.
