TopGum expands supplement line with synbiotic gummies
Gummy supplement specialist TopGum Industries has introduced its latest innovation, Gummiotics. The “all-in-one” functional gummies feature a synbiotic trio — probiotics and postbiotics bound together in a natural, patent-pending Gummiceuticals prebiotic fiber-based matrix.
Each 3 g mandarin slice-shaped gummy contains one billion CFUs of spore-forming strains of Bacillus subtilis (DE111) and 34 mg of the postbiotic Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (BPL1).
Each sugar-free gummy is also infused with 60% prebiotic content, which stems from the company’s fiber-powered gummy matrix. TopGum bases its breakthrough Gummiceuticals delivery system on a blend of plant-based fructooligosaccharides that act as a natural sweetener while exerting a potent prebiotic effect.
“One of our key missions at TopGum is to continuously track market trends and scientific advancements to ensure we stay ahead of evolving consumer needs,” says Eyal Shohat, CEO of TopGum.
“Gut health has become a key focus for both consumers and supplement brands, driven by growing research on the benefits of pro-, pre-, and postbiotics. Their impact on digestion, weight management, and even mood and cognitive function presents strong opportunities for innovation, and we are committed to delivering science-backed solutions that align with these trends.”
Made with natural flavors and colors, Gummiotics are formulated to deliver comprehensive gut-health benefits in a fruity chewable treat in two varieties, orange and strawberry.
Heat stability and fiber benefits
Gummiotics contain pre-, pro-, and postbiotics that synergistically support multiple aspects of gut health, including nutrient absorption and overall digestive balance.
Prebiotics are known to provide the essential nutrients that beneficial bacteria need to thrive in the digestive tract. One of the key fibers in the Gummiceuticals composition is prebiotic chicory root fiber.
Probiotics colonize the digestive system with beneficial bacteria, and postbiotics are metabolites that are produced by the breakdown of probiotic bacteria. Postbiotics are attracting increasing attention due to their support of gut-barrier function.
“One of the biggest challenges in incorporating probiotics into the gummy format is their inherent sensitivity to heat. That is why we use dormant spore-forming probiotics that maintain stability under conditions of heat and low pH, rather than using active live ones,” explains Jennifer Toomey, head of new product development for TopGum USA.
“Unique to TopGum’s synbiotic gummy is that it does not need added prebiotic fiber or sugar, since these are naturally present in our proprietary Gummiceuticals fiber base and act as a direct replacement for sucrose or other fully caloric sugars.”
“It is the perfect vehicle to deliver probiotics because it is in itself a prebiotic ingredient providing food for beneficial bacteria. Best of all, it maintains the delectable fruit flavor gummy lovers enjoy.”
The company will showcase its new Gummiotics creations at Vitafoods Europe on May 20–22, in Geneva, Switzerland.
Latest in the gummy pipeline
The advanced Gummiceuticals technology can deliver effective doses of the bioactives without refrigeration for convenient, on-the-go supplementation. The organic gummies are also free from artificial additives and unwanted fillers.
“We believe that nutraceutical supplementation should be as enjoyable as it is effective,” Shohat comments.
Earlier this year, TopGum Industries acquired Island Abbey Nutritionals, a contract development and manufacturing organization specializing in supplement gummies and lozenges, located in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
TopGum’s other gummy supplement innovations include IronGum, Gummiccino, and HoneyGum, among others. Each of TopGum’s gummy concepts is modifiable to meet specific client requests for a personalized gummy creation. They are non-GMO and kosher- and halal-certified.
