Health Canada approves TSI Group’s Peak ATP sports nutrition claims
Health Canada has approved TSI Group’s Peak ATP (adenosine 5’-triphosphate) for five sports nutrition claims and has been issued a Natural Product Number (NPN #80135561).
The pharmaceutical company says Peak ATP is a highly bioavailable, non-stimulant energy source. Science Based Ingredients (SBI) distributes the patented ingredient in Canada.
“TSI’s commitment to science aligns perfectly with SBI’s focus on science-based ingredients," states Jim Bornhold, SBI President and CEO. “We are thrilled to bring this pre-workout ingredient to the Canadian market. This collaboration further illustrates how SBI delivers on our promise to help people live healthier, happier and more active lives. We look forward to a highly successful partnership between TSI and SBI.”
Recognized claims
Approved NPN health claims, which are also valid in the US, for a 400 mg clinical daily dose of Peak ATP, include helping boost strength, power, physical performance and muscle thickness when used with regular weight/resistance training and a healthy balanced diet.
When combined with a well-balanced diet, it also helps to improve strength and performance during short bursts of intense physical activity. Peak ATP also claims to help increase lean mass when consuming a healthy balanced diet.
ATP functions as a source of energy and storage on a cellular level, which means people do not have to rely on stimulants but only on their muscles.
“We are especially excited because these claims for Peak ATP are very strong. There are not a lot of similar claims on the market,” states TSI Group President Larry Kolb. “The Health Canada approval certainly adds another layer of validity to these claims, which can be used on our customers’ labels and in their marketing materials.”

TSI Group claims its Peak ATP is a clinically backed version of ATP Disodium, which was made to match the type naturally found in the body.

The company says sports nutrition brands seeking to meet the demand for safe, effective ingredients may look toward Peak ATP.
Kolb adds: “In addition to pre-workout formulas, Peak ATP fits easily into other standout synergistic combinations, such as with creatine or in hydration products for intra-workout solutions. There are products ready to launch in early 2025 and TSI looks forward to partnering with SBI to further expand the Canadian market.”
TSI Group shares that customers using Peak ATP in their formulas can now refer to the Peak ATP NPN for their own NPN applications and access its Master NNHPD file. “TSI’s work to get these claims approved will help to streamline the process for our customers,” says Kolb.
Peak ATP is claimed to be Informed Ingredient certified, Generally Recognized as Safe, certified kosher, non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan- and vegetarian-friendly.
