Rousselot to showcase Nextida GC collagen’s effects on glucose spikes at SupplySide West 2024
Rousselot, Darling Ingredients’ collagen and gelatin brand, will present the findings of the first clinical study conducted on its Nextida GC supplement addressing post-meal glucose spikes. The Nextida platform is a range of collagen peptide compositions with targeted health benefits.
“We’re immensely excited to take our new step toward decoding the collagen molecule with the release of this first study,” says Jeroen Colpaert, executive VP of Rousselot.
“We’re immensely excited to take our new step toward decoding the collagen molecule with the release of this first study,” says Jeroen Colpaert, executive VP of Rousselot.
“With new science supporting our ingredient’s potential for post-meal glucose metabolism in healthy individuals, we are continuing our commitment to offering the health and wellness industry evidence-based solutions that expand what we know about collagen.”
The new clinical trial involved 16 healthy individuals who were given a dose of Nextida GC before a meal. The results reveal that a 5 gr dose reduces post-meal glucose spikes by 43% and a 10 gr dose by 40%.

Rousselot will be the event’s official sponsor for glucose management at SupplySide West 2024. It will deliver two expert presentations on this topic, which will be presented by Dr. Janne Prawitt, the scientific director for health and nutrition at Rousselot, and Dr. Mariette Abrahams, CEO and Founder at Qina.
Visitors are also invited to meet Rousselot at booth #5641 to sample Nextida GC and learn more about the two recently published, peer-reviewed clinical studies about Rousselot’s other collagen peptide solution, Peptan.
One explores the ingredient’s efficacy in improving skin beauty markers in East Asian women aged 40 to 65 when taken in the form of a dietary supplement. The second concern is Peptan’s effective absorption, which was conducted as a randomized, double-blind crossover trial.
Rousselot presented both of its studies at this year’s Vitafoods Asia in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a recent interview with Nutrition Insight, Florencia Moreno Torres, the health and nutrition global business development manager at Rousselot, highlighted the advantages of collagen for sports nutrition.
Torres has also previously told us about the application of ingredients in the post-workout recovery segment.
