Nutrition’s tech revolution: How AI, biometrics, and wearables are redefining wellness
While the health and wellness space remains hotly trend-driven, the era of generic diets is fading as consumers increasingly demand personalized solutions. From AI-powered multimodal meal cataloging to bespoke holiday diet plans based on DNA analysis, the industry is witnessing a surge in customized offerings, reflecting a growing desire for precision nutrition.
Nutrition Insight spotlights the latest advances in tailored nutrition approaches in tech, jewelry, and hospitality, with insights from Lifesum, Velara Resorts, and Omni Health Ring.
According to Innova Market Insights’ global market overview, half of consumers this year are eager to try personalized nutrition solutions, with one in three using apps to help create a tailored nutrition plan.
“The landscape of personalized nutrition is evolving at a fast pace. We’re seeing innovative approaches such as smart kitchen appliances that offer real-time nutritional insights as users cook and apps that combine personalized meal planning with direct grocery delivery,” Signe Svanfeldt, lead nutritionist at food tracker app Lifesum, tells us.
“Wearables are becoming smarter by monitoring various measurements throughout the day. These trends reflect a broader shift toward integrating technology seamlessly into everyday health management, which is very much in line with the future we envision.”

Innova Market Insights data reveals half of global consumers this year are eager to try personalized nutrition solutions, with one in three using apps to help create a tailored nutrition plan. With usability being a primary consumer focus, Lifesum’s AI-powered latest innovation, Multimodal Tracking, allows users to log their nutrition easily through voice, image, barcode, text, or quick track — aiming to make health tracking “smarter, more intuitive, and seamlessly adaptable to any lifestyle.”
“Simplifying data logging enables us to deliver real-time, highly personalized dietary insights like never before,” says Svanfeldt.
Lifesum and fitness app FIIT recently partnered to launch a combined corporate wellness solution aimed at helping organizations combat employee burnout and address the US$47.6 billion annual productivity loss in the US.
The program allows employees to sync workout and nutrition data across both apps for a complete health overview of exercise, calorie burn, and recovery needs.
Svanfeldt points to Lifesum’s acquisition of Lykon, a leading European company specializing in biomarker-based nutrition, as a major step forward for the brand. “By leveraging Lykon’s expertise, we can now capture precise biomarker data, offering deeper insights into how individuals uniquely respond to their diet.”
“This advancement transforms health tracking by connecting nutritional habits with real, measurable physiological data. Looking ahead, this integration paves the way for a more holistic approach to wellness, as we continue expanding our advanced health ecosystem.”
Bespoke nutrition tourism
Personalized wellness is quickly crossing into tourism, with hotels using guests’ biometrics and predictive analysis to offer hyper-bespoke dietary advice and services. Velara Resorts & Residences founder and CEO, Kevin Wathey, tells us about how traditional hospitality is evolving with a “deeply personalized approach to health rooted in real data.”
“At Velara Resorts & Residences, we’re redefining the guest and resident experience by integrating first-of-its-kind personalized nutrition into every stay,” he says. “We harmonize insights from DNA, blood panels, microbiome analysis, and wearable metrics into a single, cohesive plan.”
“Our proprietary platform transforms this complex health information into an intuitive health score, helping guests and physicians make informed decisions with ease. This approach empowers individuals to make sustainable dietary choices tailored to their unique biology — turning every meal into an opportunity for optimal well-being.”

“We’re also developing new ways to integrate continuous glucose monitoring and metabolic tracking into the guest experience, allowing for unprecedented insights into how the body absorbs and responds to nutrients. The goal is to make every moment at Velara a step toward lasting health, driven by intuitive and adaptive personalization,” explains Wathey.
Among its programs, Velara offers the “Forage and Fire Excursion,” a culinary journey where guests visit a regenerative farm to harvest ingredients that align with their unique dietary needs. Back on the property, the experience continues with a cooking class led by the executive chef, teaching guests to integrate personalized nutrition into their lifestyle through practice.
“We envision a future where personalized nutrition becomes seamlessly embedded into everyday life — especially within hospitality and home environments. No more generic advice or guesswork; instead, imagine waking up to a dynamic nutrition plan tailored to your biology, lifestyle, and real-time data,” says Wathey.
“As technology evolves, nutrition will become anticipatory rather than reactive — supporting people in fueling their bodies intuitively and consistently, no matter where they are on their wellness journey.”
In this space, weight management appears at the forefront of consumer priorities. Recent launches highlight GLP-1 weight support and intermittent fasting claims, reflecting evolving consumer priorities.

Last month, the Omni Health Ring launched on Kickstarter, branded as the “first wearable device to combine precise health tracking with actionable, AI-driven habit coaching.” Unlike conventional wearables that only track data, Omni Health Ring offers practical guidance alongside its health monitoring capabilities.
The Omni Health Ring is powered by a six-axis sensor that gamifies exercise for the user (Image credit: Omni Health Ring). The device’s AI technology analyzes detailed metrics on sleep quality, stress levels, physical activity, and dietary habits to deliver personalized, easily implementable advice tailored to the user’s lifestyle.
For instance, instead of telling the user to quit soda altogether, it gently nudges them to “drink a glass of water before soda,” targeting small but lasting changes without overwhelming the individual.
“Our mission is clear: empower users to achieve genuine, lasting health improvements by making actionable changes easy and enjoyable,” comments Jony Sun, founder of Omni Health. “Kickstarter provides us the perfect platform to offer our innovative technology at an accessible price, without compromising quality or performance.”
Omni Health Ring integrates personalized nutrition plans into its holistic health management system. Users can simply snap a picture of their meal, and Omni’s AI instantly identifies nutritional content and provides tailored meal recommendations.
Next to basic health tracking, the ring is equipped with motion-controlled fitness games powered by its precision six-axis sensor to “transform exercise from a chore into a relaxing and enjoyable activity.”
Crafted for comfort, the Omni Health Ring is made slim at 6.5 mm and lightweight at 2–3 g — half the weight of similar rings — ensuring ease in daily wear. It is constructed from durable aerospace-grade titanium and IP68-rated for complete protection against water, dust, and scratches, promising reliable performance in all conditions.
