Brenntag opens new nutrition center in UK to boost food innovation and applications

Brenntag has inaugurated a new food and nutrition Innovation & Application Center in Leeds, UK, to power services for ingredient selection, formulation guidance, and applications.
The center’s experts curate concepts, develop prototypes, and help with customized formulations for various applications.
“Brenntag acts as an important link with our customers and suppliers to bring innovation closer to the marketplace. The new center is a great addition to the strong network of now already 31 Food & Nutrition Innovation & Application Centres globally and 13 in the EMEA region,” says Jerzy Jasinski, Global President Nutrition and President Brenntag Specialties EMEA.
The center will focus on bakery, meat, and plant-based products. Others include ready meals, sauces and dips, beverages, and nutrition for customers from UK and Irish food manufacturers and other industry players.
Technologies at the center
Brentag’s innovation center is located in the Lawnswood House of Lawnswood Business Park in North Leeds, amid the region’s headquarters and next to the Center for Personal Care.
At the center, special machinery includes MIWE oven, Combi Rational oven, Autoclave (Tuttnauer), Meat grinder (Mainca), Meat tumbler (Vakona), Stephan Mixer, Hobar Mixer, Silverson Dispersion units, ice cream machine Carpigiani, Homogenizer GEA, Sorbetto machine, Waterbath for sous vide, Vacuum sealer, and a canning machine.

Analytical equipment includes a texture analyzer, viscometer, colorimeter, microscopy, moisture analyzer, Brix, pH, and AW measurements.
In other developments, Brenntag expanded its distribution deal with Lallemand Bio-Ingredients to market its Food Enzyme portfolio in North America. This includes an extension of Lallemand’s baking enzyme portfolio to Brenntag’s US and Canada customers.
In May, Arla Foods Ingredients extended its distribution partnership with Brenntag to include Southeast Asia’s three largest food and nutrition markets: Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia. It covers categories, including health foods, infant nutrition, and sports nutrition, as well as solutions for functionality in dairy and bakery.
