FiE 2025: Organ-on-chip technology now available for nutrition industry trials
09 Dec 2025 | NIZO
Understanding how valuable molecules work in the body may become easier thanks to organ-on-chip technology. Available to the industry now through NIZO and the University of Twente in the Netherlands, these multilayered chips can host cultured human organoids and tissue cells, reducing the need for animal models. Chips can be connected, simulating the connection between systems in the body, offering a window into interactions such as the gut-brain axis via the vagus nerve.
